Amitabh Bachchan, who is in Egypt as the Chief Guest of the ‘India By The Nile’ festival, was honoured by the Indian community there. As a mark of respect for his immense contribution to Indian cinema, the megastar was awarded Honorary Doctorate by the Egyptian Academy of Arts.
Big B shared his joy with his fans on Twitter. He said that the Doctorate signifies that Indian cinema has gone beyond Indian shores. “Culture is the soft power of the state and should be used to convert enemies into friends,” he said.
The Shahenshah of Bollywood added, I am extremely humbled to be given this honour. It feels like coming home. I have been fortunate to be getting so much love from all of youEgypt and Egyptian people have always been my dearest friends and shall continue to be so for my entire life time
Ahlam Younis, the head of the Academy of Arts, stated, This is the first time that the Academy of Arts has given a doctorate to an international actor."
